The recent article was plain, there has been a significant spike in people searching online about help and hope during this coronavirus pandemic. In fact, man online Christian sites report as much as a 170% increase in people searching for hope and a 30% increase in people clicking for salvation. Clicking for salvation? Well, I am thankful for all those who have the capability of chatting online with people who are seeking hope in this hour of despair.
There have been through the years in times of crisis people who have truly turned to God and sought Him for help and salvation. Praise God! One of my former deacons was saved in a foxhole in Germany. He had been reared in a godly home and had never turned from his sins and to Christ until that crucial moment under enemy fire. It was a true conversion experience. However, he would tell me of many who others he served with who had “foxhole conversions” who as soon as the danger passed simply went back to their old way of life.
Salvation is more than saying a prayer, it is the surrender of the heart and life to Christ realizing His sacrifice on Calvary is the only remedy for our sins. It is not taking on a doctrine, it is receiving the person of Christ. By faith we turn from our sinful life and turn completely unto Christ. He is Savior and Lord.
Let’s pray for people to truly turn to Christ in this time of crisis. This is not a time of despair but a time of hope in Him. He lives!
