And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. (Hebrews 10:24-25)
Among the Hebrew believers some were turning away from the faith. It was a discouraging time and the writer instructs these believers to be faithful to the assembly of the saints for corporate worship. They needed each other! They needed to love one another, fellowship with each other and encourage one another.
We hope it will not be long until we can gather again and assemble for worship. We miss it! Not only do we miss the presence of the Lord together, we need each other. Church is for us! We believers need each other. We need to feel the love of other believers as we gather. We need to experience the fellowship. We need to hear the encouragement as others pray with us and we worship together. And yes, we need to sense the wonderful moving of the Holy Spirit in our corporate gathering.
Well…. What can we do NOW? It has been several weeks since we were able to worship together. Virtual church, which I am thankful for in these days, is not the same as gathering for worship. So we must be sure to keep up with each other by personal contact. Call someone today and encourage them! Write a note to someone in our church. Pray for families by name and specifically during these days apart.
We hope to be together soon!
